The story behind VEGDOG

Sometimes, a big idea starts very small. In the case of VEGDOG, it all began with Nelson, founder Tessa’s dog. Nelson suffered from severe food allergies, which led Tessa to search for an alternative that truly worked. To her surprise, there wasn’t a fully balanced plant-based dog food available on the market.

Something had to change. Together with a veterinary nutritionist, she developed a 100% complete vegan dog food. Not long after, co-founder Valerie joined the journey, and together they proved that scientifically developed, sustainable dog nutrition is not only possible, but also incredibly effective.

What started as a search for the right food for one dog grew into a mission: DO GOOD. FEED BETTER. Not just for dogs, but for all animals and our planet. 🐶🌍

How sustainable is VEGDOG?

At VEGDOG, sustainability is not just a marketing buzzword, but something that truly shows up in what ends up in the food bowl. All recipes are completely plant-based and contain no animal-derived ingredients. In addition, most ingredients are sourced regionally, and production takes place in Germany according to high quality standards.

But the mission goes beyond food alone. VEGDOG supports various animal welfare projects and also cares for its own rescued animals, known as the VEGDOG Rescues. So with every meal, you’re not only contributing to the wellbeing of your own dog, but also to a better world for other animals! 💚

When it comes to complete nutrition, VEGDOG Green Crunch is by far the bestseller. This 100% plant-based kibble has been developed in collaboration with veterinarians and contains all the nutrients adult dogs need. In addition, Green Crunch is free from the most common animal and plant allergens and is made from high-quality peas and lentils.

The snacks are just as popular. Especially the Jerkeys (and Beevys 😉) are a real hit with many dogs. Thanks to a natural smoking process using beechwood, they have a rich, savoury flavour without any artificial flavours or attractants. In fact, a customer survey showed that an impressive 97% of dogs absolutely love them! 🐩

Yuno’s story

At VEGDOG, they regularly receive heartwarming stories of dogs who truly flourish thanks to plant-based nutrition. One story, in particular, has stayed with the team: Yuno’s.

Yuno was found in 2022 along a busy road in Romania, where he was sheltering under a small cardboard shelter. When he eventually found his forever home, he had bald patches in several areas of his coat.

After switching to VEGDOG’s Green Crunch and Dentals, things changed surprisingly quickly. His coat recovered and the bald patches disappeared. For the VEGDOG team, this is exactly what they do it for. And Yuno is definitely not the only one!
