“Jessy is very social with people and affectionate. He is naturally nervous, doesn’t get along with other dogs, and has the ‘eye,’ which means he focuses intensely on something and it’s hard to get him to shift his attention. Indoors and in the garden with space to play, he is wonderful and eager to work. With border collies, it’s important to keep them engaged, alongside giving them the rest they also need. On bad weather days, you can do puzzle games with them. Outdoors, we train and play, and Jessy is the better frisbee catcher of the two. We use the VeggiePet Sweet Potato Training Balls during training, which he loves! He also really enjoys the Vegusto sausage.

At the end of January this year, we started switching our border collies, Jessy and Sascha, to vegan dog food. After trying several sample bags, the Greta kibble turned out to be the clear favorite for both of them. Sometimes I alternate with Ami wet food, the Vegusto sausage, and regularly add extra vegetables and fruits that are healthy and suitable for them.

Both of them had skin problems for years, Jessy worse than Sascha. It often started as early as April and lasted until October, with terrible scratching and biting of their coats, causing hotspots. Since we couldn’t figure out the cause, they were both given medication for the itching.

Since we started vegan dog food, all complaints have disappeared! No more itching, no hotspots, no more medication needed. Truly beyond expectations, and we are so happy! Our veterinarian fully supports it and wants to monitor their progress, so she planned a blood test for both of them in September, but we expect nothing but positive results. (Update October 2021: the blood results were fine.)

Their coats look healthier, and their stool has never been as good and consistent as it has been since they started eating vegan. And they love it!

We have a subscription, which is very convenient, and it’s delivered perfectly every month. They also love the training treats and chews—not too many, of course. At first, it was a bit of trial and error to find the balance because they gained some weight, but now they are back to their ideal weight.
