“Hello! I am Robin, Robin Scheper Woerden-Van Soest. Hehehe. My human friends liked giving me all kinds of names they thought suited me. I am a female Belgian Shepherd, now 13 years old. I was born on the outskirts of Rotterdam as the sixth little one, in the car on the way home from the vet, where my other five brothers and sisters were born. I grew up on a ship in the Oosterdok in Amsterdam. Later, I traveled the world. Netherlands, Belgium, Germany, France, Austria, Switzerland, Spain, Portugal, even South Africa. Wherever my human goes, I go too. Always and everywhere, we are together. Out together, home together, day in and day out. We are truly the best buddies ever.

As a puppy, I was raised on a raw diet. My human friends wanted everything as natural as possible for me. One of them had been a vegetarian since he was 16, but together they thought it was okay for me to eat animals in the wild, so that would also be best for my health. Over the years, however, it became increasingly clear how horrendous, cruel, painful, and disastrous the meat industry and all industries involving animals, such as dairy, clothing, cosmetics, entertainment, sports, and transportation, truly are. Six years ago, my human friend decided to live fully vegan.

The thought that so many other animals suffer terribly from birth to death led him to also go fully vegan for me. And I love it! I’m doing incredibly well on it! I eat Benevo dry food and Benevo and Ami wet food, sometimes other brands if needed. Vegan treats from Yarrah and chew sticks from Whimzees and Garden Bites make for a tasty and healthy snack that’s also great for my teeth, and the vet is very proud of my teeth! And of course, I enjoy all kinds of fruits, nuts, and seeds.

At 13, I’m in fantastic condition. Naturally, I have some aging here and there, some wear and tear, a bit of arthritis, and cataracts, but my coat is super soft, and I’m in a great mood. My human sleeps much more peacefully knowing no unnecessary cruelty is required for me. He is an animal lover, and that love doesn’t just stop at pets.” — Fred
