From the manufacturer
Not only are there ethical reasons for choosing a meatless meal, but health aspects can also be an important reason for offering your cat a complete vegetarian alternative. More and more sensitive cats develop kidney disease due to the excessive raw protein content in meat feed.
Cats have complex nutritional needs. For example, they require a remarkable amount of vitamin A. Deficiency of these can cause hearing loss, skin and bone problems, digestive problems and reproductive problems. In addition, taurine is essential for cats to maintain their eyesight and for a healthy heart. Commercial animal food manufacturers enrich their feed mainly with synthetic taurine, but sometimes also with taurine that is extracted from molluscs and is therefore of animal origin.
The American James A. Peden has found vegetable sources for both taurine and arachidonic acid, an essential nutrient for cats. From this he developed the additive 'VegecatTM' and VegekitTM 'recommended by veterinarians, with which the recipes from his book can easily be enriched. To ensure supply with all important nutrients, our Vegusto-Cat pet food is also based on the supplements of James A. Peden.
Especially in cats, dietary changes should always be slow and with consideration of the animals' preferences. It is also important to keep a close eye on the eating behavior of the animals to check whether the new feed is well accepted.

What is the best litter box for my cat?
When you are looking for a litter box for your cat, there are a few points that you should pay attention to: the material, the firmness, the shape and how easy the litter box is to clean. We are happy to explain more about it.
Cat litter material
In terms of material, it is best to choose non-porous material. You can think of stainless steel, ceramic or glass. The point here is that the cat litter cannot crumble and does not give off any odor or colour.
Firmness of the litter box
It is also important that the cat cannot just knock over the bowl. This is especially useful for the boss. This makes a container with anti-slip ideal.
Shape of the litter box
It is also important that you look at the shape. A cat has sensitive whiskers and these should not touch the litter box in an ideal situation. That is why it is best to choose a wide and low cat litter box.
Cat litter box maintenance
Finally, you also want a cat litter box that is easy to maintain. That is why it is useful to choose a cat bowl that can go in the dishwasher. It can also help if the litter box is smooth and has little relief.

Uli is the last in line of our 6 adopted cats. He has been getting vegan food since he came to us as a kitten and is doing more than fine. He's the clown of our gang and is always ready to play or get into mischief. Enough energy.
Luckily he also likes to cuddle and be nice :).
