It all began with a deep love for shelter dogs and a strong desire to help them. In 2018, Annelies Porto-Carrero spent six months traveling through Asia, volunteering at dog shelters along the way. Walking and caring for these wonderful dogs gave her a sense of purpose: she decided to dedicate the rest of her life to supporting shelter dogs. And so, Rescue Leashes was born!

Rescue Leashes has a clear mission: to put adopted dogs in the spotlight and start a Rescue Revolution. Their goal? To make adoption the norm, not the exception. With their eye-catching designs, they aim to spark conversations about adoption and inspire more people to choose adoption over buying.

Annelies Porto-Carrero is the driving force behind Rescue Leashes. An entrepreneur since her graduation, she started her own lunch bar at the age of 24. Three years later, she dove into event planning. At 37, she fell in love with shelter dogs in Asia and Spain, which changed her life forever. She worked as a dog walker and began dreaming of a way to support rescue organizations while inspiring people to choose adoption. That dream became a reality when she founded Rescue Leashes on her birthday in 2023. Since then, she has found her mission!

In the collection, there are several items specifically designed for international rescue dogs, such as the panic-proof leash and the safety harness. Rescue Leashes has a close collaboration with several rescue organizations that can make good use of their products and that they support with donations with every purchase.

The collection of Rescue Leashes consists of collars, leashes, and harnesses. They offer two types of harnesses: the comfort harness, designed for daily use, and the safety harness, which provides extra security. For 2025, their goal is to add martingale collars to the collection. These collars are known for their dog-friendly design and added safety.
